Accessing Glow without breaking your other school sign-ins

Use this guide to sign in to Glow, keep Glow separate from Edinburgh Microsoft 365 cookies, and reach SCHOLAR and e-Sgoil study support from a PC or an iPad.

Chrome on PC Safari Profiles on iPad SCHOLAR e-Sgoil

Glow is a separate Scottish education account.

Glow is not the same as your normal Edinburgh Microsoft 365 sign-in. Use your Glow username or Glow email address when a Glow login page asks for your account.

On shared school devices: do not save passwords and do not tick "Remember me" unless a teacher has told you it is safe to do so on that device.

Glow and Edinburgh Microsoft 365 both use browser cookies to remember sign-ins.

Cookies are small sign-in records stored by your browser. They are useful, but they can cause a problem when two services expect different Microsoft-style school accounts. If Glow and Edinburgh Microsoft 365 share the same browser cookies, a link might open with the wrong account or keep sending you round the sign-in screen.

1

Normal profile

Keep your usual Edinburgh Microsoft 365 and Teams web sign-ins here.

2

Glow profile

Create a separate browser space just for Glow, SCHOLAR and e-Sgoil.

3

Separate cookies

Each profile remembers its own sign-in, so the accounts do not overwrite each other.

4

Switch back

Return to your normal profile when you finish a Glow activity.

Simple rule: use your normal browser profile for Edinburgh Microsoft 365, and use your Glow profile only when you need Glow, SCHOLAR or e-Sgoil.
Chrome

Create a separate Glow profile in Chrome

Chrome profiles keep cookies, history and saved sign-ins separate. This is the cleanest method on a PC or laptop.

ChromeProfile buttonAddName: Glow
  1. 1

    Open Google Chrome.

  2. 2

Click the profile button at the top right of Chrome. It may show your initials, a person icon, or your current account picture.

  3. 3

Choose Add. If Chrome asks you to sign in to a Google account, choose the option to continue without signing in unless your teacher has told you otherwise.

  4. 4

Name the profile Glow. Choose any colour or icon that helps you spot it quickly.

  5. 5

In the Glow profile, go to https://glow.rmunify.com/ and sign in with your Glow details.

  6. 6

Use this Chrome profile whenever you open SCHOLAR or e-Sgoil through Glow.

When a link opens in the wrong profile: copy the link, open the Glow Chrome profile, then paste the link into the address bar.
Safari

Create a Glow profile in Safari

Safari Profiles on iPadOS 17 and later let Safari keep separate cookies for different activities. Create one profile for Glow and leave your usual school browsing in the Personal profile.

    Tap the Tabs button.

  3. 3

  5. 5

Switch back to Personal after you finish using Glow, especially before opening Edinburgh Microsoft 365 links.

Important on iPad: links opened from Teams or another app use the Safari profile that is currently active. If a link behaves strangely, copy it first, switch Safari to the correct profile, then paste the link.

It keeps using the wrong account

Check that you are in the Glow Chrome profile or Safari Glow profile. If you are in the normal profile, the browser may reuse your Edinburgh Microsoft 365 cookies.

A Teams or meeting link opens oddly

Copy the link instead of tapping it directly. Open the correct browser profile first, then paste the link into the address bar.

You do not know your Glow password

Ask your teacher or the school office for help. Every Edinburgh school has Glow administration support available through school systems.

Nothing works after signing in

Close the browser tab, reopen the Glow profile, and try glow.rmunify.com again. If it still fails, show this guide to your teacher.
